Results were recently released from the NPR, RWJF and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health survey: Patients' Perspectives on Health Care in the United States. The 42 page report detailing the survey responses and findings provides "in-depth study to assess the changing health care landscape in the two years since the Affordable Care Act took effect."

Diving into just one section of the survey: "Experience with Doctors and Other Health Care Professionals" provides current insight on the consumer view of their doctor encounters. The survey examined state specific data for seven states along with national data, to assess how localized perspectives compare to perceptions nationally.

Here's what the survey found nationally - and okay, we lied. There really are more than six questions, because question four is a five-parter:

1. Overall, how would you rate the health care you receive: excellent - 33%, good - 46%, fair - 14%, poor - 4%. don't know 3%

2. Thinking about the past TWO years, would you say the health care you have received has gotten: better - 14%, worse - 9%, stayed about the same - 74%, don't know - 3%

3. Have you visited a doctor or other health professional in the last TWO years: Yes - 84%, No - 16%

4. If Yes to #3; Thinking about your most recent visit to a doctor or other health professional, how would you rate the following?
a. The overall experience: Excellent - 45%. Good - 41%, Fair 12%, Poor - 2%, Don't know - 1%
b. The quality of health care you received: Excellent - 43%. Good - 44%, Fair 11%, Poor - 2%, Don't know - 0%
c. The amount of time you spent with the doctor: Excellent - 36%. Good - 41%, Fair 16%, Poor - 6%, Don't know - 1%
d. Your ability to get in touch with the doctor outside of an appointment, either by phone or email: Excellent - 27%. Good - 38%, Fair 19%, Poor - 10%, Don't know - 6%
e. The doctor’s sensitivity to your cultural background: Excellent - 45%. Good - 40%, Fair 9%, Poor - 2%, Don't know - 4%
f. The doctor’s concern with maintaining your long-term health and other factors in your life that could affect your health and well-being: Excellent - 44%. Good - 40%, Fair 11%, Poor - 3%,
