The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics(NCHS)has made available an early release of selected estimates based on data from the 2013 National Health Interview Survey. It includes coverage & utilization measures, health status measures and health related habit measures. Three health related habit measures have their prevalence by year (1997-2013) listed on healthsprocket.

The percentage of adults aged 18 and over who met the 2008 federal physical activity guidelines for aerobic activity through leisure - time aerobic activity has gone up from 43.3% to 49.9%. Another healthy trend is that the prevalence of current cigarette smoking among adults aged 18 and over has gone down from 24.6% to 17.9%. Not every measure shows we are making healthier decisions, the percentage of adults aged 18 and over who had five or more drinks in 1 day at least once in the past year has gone up from 21.1% to 23.3%.
