This week, a list was posted on healthsprocket displaying three advantages of using mobile health in operating rooms. It is based on a news article from Marion McCall, BBA, RN, CNOR, CPHIMS who is the Vice President of Surgical Information Systems. She elaborates on how efficient clinicians and patients can be through quality care.

Work flow and patient flow can keep moving through command and control to guarantee that all everyone has the same information. One incorrect action can trigger multiple events with negative impacts. The workflow is highly compressed and there is little to no room for error in regards to changes. Clinicians are located in different departments but if they have a shared vision on patient milestones then they are able to assist one another to exactly what is happening and care becomes more coordinated. When there are less interruptions to the care teams, they are enabled to stay more focused on whatever task is put in front of them. Push notifications (for mobile devices) would be beneficial due to a lot of exchanges occuring with time constraints. Also, it allows team members to be in the correct place at the perfect time. The future of perioperative services remain complex and consolidated.
