  2. Minnesota: 15.85 sunset years
  3. California: 15.37 sunset years
  4. New York: 15.36 sunset years
  5. Connecticut: 15.18 sunset years
  6. Massachusetts: 15.10 sunset years (tie)
  7. North Dakota: 15.10 sunset years (tie)
  8. Utah: 15.08 sunset years
  9. Arizona: 14.92 sunset years (tie)
  10. Colorado: 14.92 sunset years (tie)

Notes: "Sunset years" refer to life expectancy postretirement. Sunset years were calculated for each state by subtracting an assumed retirement age of 65 from the average life expectancy for men and women. States were ranked by their gender ratio-weighted average.
