4 Steps Swedish Medical Center is Taking to Prep for ICD-10

1. Raise Awareness- October was the month of awareness, which involved clinical documentation integrity specialists talking to physicians and making sure they know the extent of the change.
2. Give Physicians The Education They Want- This involved the CDI team splitting up to cover different specialties and becoming subject matter experts in those areas.
3. Explore New Tools- The operations coding process is completly paperless and severall new programs have been put into place to improve physician documentation.
4. Motivate Physicians To Join The Transition Effort- The biggest obstacle Swedish's ICD-10 preperation efforts will face is physcians who are reluctant to get on board.
