Submitted by Charlene Ice on Tue, 03/28/2017 - 12:20
- a 4.2% reduction in total spending (excluding pharmacy cost)
- a 1.4% increase in breast cancer screening among high-needs patients
- a 1.5% reduction in specialty visits among all patients
- small but significant improvements in cervical cancer screening across all patients
Notes: A recent meta-analysis of findings from 11 major PCMH evaluations across 8 states suggests that PCMH initiatives were associated with the above results. A paper reporting the full set of methods and results from this study appears in the March issue of Health Affairs.
