Fact Based List:

According to CMS, the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Initiative intends to achieve the following

  1. Support and encourage providers who are interested in continuously reengineering care to achieve “better health, better care, and lower costs through continuous improvement” (three-part aim outcomes).
  2. Create a positively reinforcing cycle that leads to decreasing the cost of an acute episode of care and the associated post-acute care while fostering quality improvement.
  3. Develop and test payment models that create extended accountability for the three-part aim outcomes for acute care and post-acute medical care.
  4. Shorten the cycle time for adoption of evidence-based care.
  5. Create environments that stimulate rapid development of new evidence-based knowledge.
