  1. Alarms for Disability Program: The disability trust fund is expected to run out of money late next year.
  2. Cost of Living Increase Is Unlikely: It would mark only the third year without an increase since automatic adjustments were adopted in 1975.
  3. Medicare Premium Spike?: Some beneficiaries may face steep premium increases for Medicare Part B.
  4. Price of Postponement: Every year the trustees deliver a sober warning, neither program is adequately financed for the long haul. Meaning benefit cuts, tax increases & reining in health care costs.
  5. The Basics: 60 mil. people receive Social Security benefits and 55 mil. retirees and disabled people get Medicare.
