Recently, a healthsprocket list was posted showing six technological innovations that assist with making a connection between patients and providers. The list comes from Property Casualty 360 (A National Underwriter Website) article by Kimberly George, Senior Vice President, Senior Healthcare Advisor at Sedgwick. She discusses how telemedicine, google glass, wearable monitoring devices, internet-connected sensors, 3D printing, and robotic devices bring advantages and efficiencies toward delivering healthcare and increasing the provider's time and skills.

Some experts hypothesize that these types of technology could decrease costs and increase productivity in regards to patients and providers. Also, this enables maximization of resources through cost-effective programs. Emerging medical technology and patient engagement has a wide range of opportunities that have yet to be realized in reality. An efficient and effective healthcare system with higher quality and outcomes for the patient/provider combination gives everyone a win-win type of situation. Technology will become a bigger part of the healthcare industry in the future.
