The Commonwealth Fund recently released a survey that assessed hospitals’ readiness to participate in ACOs. The survey found that 12.8% of hospitals said they were either participating (3.2%) or preparing to participate in an ACO (9.6%).

The new version of the 2012 Directory incorporates the 88 additional MSSP ACOs added in July 2012, plus additional commercial ACOs, as well as updates to prior listings.

Best Hospitals

This week, U.S. News released its annual list of the best hospitals. Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston was ranked number one on the U.S. News Honor Roll this year, displacing Baltimore's Johns Hopkins Hospital, which had been Number one on the Honor Roll for 21 years in a row. As well as the honor roll list, U.S. News has released ranking by 16 specialties.

2012 Payer Rankings

This week, athenahealth released its PayerView Rankings, an annual project which provides an objective, quantitative measure of providers' "ease of doing business" with individual payers. The payers were ranked in 6 categories; days in accounts receivable, first-pass resolve rate, provider collection burden, denial rate, ERA transparency, and eligibility accuracy, which made up the overall performance ranking.
